A motion sensor light socket transforms an ordinary light bulb socket into motion activated light sensor. This convenient device is simply screwed into an ordinary light socket, and contains a built in passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor, and a light socket extension into which you screw an ordinary light bulb. When the motion sensor detects motion within a room, the light bulb which is screwed into the light bulb socket extension, is switched on.

A Passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor detects the infrared energy (or body heat) within its field of view. If someone walks into the field of view of the motion sensor, the infrared energy detected by the sensor will increase substantially.
- Security Deterrent – A motion sensor light is a good security deterrent. A light that comes on automatically can scare away potential intruders.
- Save Electricity – These devices normally turn the light off if motion is not detected for a certain period of time. You can save on your electricity bill if you have a tendency to forget and leave lights on after you exit a room.
- Easy Installation – A motion sensor light socket is extremely simple to install. All you need to do is simply screw the device into an existing light socket.
The First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket combines the safety and security of a well-lit room with the convenience of easy installation. The hands-free motion sensor screws right into a standard light socket, just like an ordinary light bulb. No additional wiring is required. The infrared (PIR) motion sensor automatically turns on the light bulb when motion is detected, and turns off the light bulb 4 minutes after motion stops. The motion sensor detects motion within a 360 degree view, and has a range up to 12 feet. 25W to 100W light bulbs may be used with this motion sensor light socket (not included).
